When I first started gardening I was very confused as to when I should start to grow my strawberry plants and I have not always been as successful at it as I would like. I am going to share with you some tips I have gathered this past year so you might be able to have success without the years of trial and error I have had:
-
Plant strawberry seeds in September to early November – already started plants can be planted in December
-
Water the plant before you put it in the ground
-
Do not bury the crown because the plant will rot
-
Do not plant too close to one another – allow room for growth
-
You can grow strawberries in many ways; in the ground, raised beds, hanging baskets, towers – the best strawberry I have ever tasted was from a hydroponics garden!
-
After planting, it is important to mulch the area around the plant and weed often
