Cool Weather Crops

As I have mentioned many times in my classes and in general garden talks, we cannot grow everything we want here in Florida, when we want. Believe it or not, Florida does have growing seasons. Winter months are perfect for growing root vegetables and leafy vegetables. Here are some ideas of what you can grow in your ‘cool’ weather garden:

Try growing something new along with your old favorites! I found from gardening at an elementary school through the Master Gardener program that Kale, Swiss Chard, Brussels Sprouts and Collard Greens really thrive in the Volusia County area. Happy Gardening!!!
