Having ladybugs in your garden is a dream come true! Ladybugs are a great form of pest control against things like scale, aphids and mites. It could be a challenge getting ladybugs into your garden and having them stay. Many people have even resorted to buying them online and have them sent to their homes. If they don’t have a reason to stay, they will use their wings and fly away! If you have food for them they will be more likely to stick around. Ladybugs love to feast on insects and pollen.

Ladybugs are usually attracted to white or yellow flowers that they can land on so if you plant things like parsley, dill, chives, fennel, sweet alyssum, feverfew, or cilantro throughout your garden you will have a better chance getting them there and keeping them there. Aphids are the worst thing to have in your garden but ladybugs LOVE to feast on them. One of aphids favorite plants to eat is nasturtium so if you plant lots of these you are bound to attract the aphids and therefore give the ladybugs incentive to stick around. Marigolds are another plant that they love to eat so if you make a sacrificial plant bed, you may have a chance to keep these pollinators around!
